Instant Runoff Voting in Vermont's Congressional Races

The Vermont Legislature has just passed a bill requiring the adoption of instant runoff voting for the state's Congressional elections, starting with this year's elections.

If the governor signs the bill into law, then Louisiana will have a good opportunity to observe the results and decide whether a similar reform should be made here.

For reasons I've stated earlier, instant runoff voting is highly preferable to the plurality voting system that the Louisiana Legislature (and, more specifically, the Democratic and Republican leadership) short-sightedly chose to implement as part of the electoral changes that took effect with this year's Congressional elections.

UPDATE: Vermont's governor vetoed the bill. There's still a chance, though, that the legislature will override the veto.
